Oléron, naturally wild
A rich and unspoiled nature, beautiful beaches, a splendid natural heritage: the second largest island in France is both fashionable and wild.
Access to the island of Oléron is a free bridge
There are no cars here and we travel on foot! Dotted with hollyhocks, the Ile d’Aix is somewhat like a large garden. On this miniature island, nature reigns and we come across at random on the paths: beaches, small sandy coves surrounded by pine forests and cypress swamps and salt marshes, a fortified village and forts… In discovery mode, a ride around the island by bicycle will take you an hour.
Access to Ile d’Aix is by boat only:
Fouras – Aix Crossing: € 15 from April 1 to September 30. The crossing takes 20 minutes Consult timetables
La Rochelle – Ile D’Aix cruises with Fort Boyard approach. Inter-island cruises
